Geotextile is a group of synthetic materials with various purposes, manufacturing methods, and compositions. It is a flat, water-permeable fabric widely used in road construction, foundation and roofing works, drainage systems, landscaping, gardening, and more.

Functions of geotextile fabric

  1. Layer separation;
  2. Filtration;
  3. Drainage;
  4. Protection against mechanical damage.

At our company, you can receive a consultation on selecting the optimal option based on the specific function the geotextile will perform in your structure.

Based on the choice of base material, geotextiles are categorized into polyester, polypropylene, or mixed fibers. Unlike natural fiber geotextiles, synthetic geofabrics offer high strength and excellent physical and mechanical properties. Such material is not prone to rotting, does not enter into chemical reactions, and does not lose its elasticity during temperature fluctuations.

According to the production method, geotextiles are divided into: needle-punched, thermofixed, and thermal-bonded. All three types of geotextile fabric are represented in our product range.

Needle-punched geotextile is made from short polyester (or polypropylene) fibers that are connected and entangled using a needle press. The result is a dense non-woven fabric capable of passing water both longitudinally and transversely while retaining soil particles without clogging the pores. These drainage properties allow the use of geotextile in the installation of drainage systems, landscape design, and gardening.

Thermofixed geotextile is produced by surface heat treatment of needle-punched fabric. Its main advantage is that it maintains the same water permeability while being significantly more resistant to punctures and tearing than its base version. The material is ideal for creating drainage systems, roof waterproofing, road construction, foundation works, and mechanical damage protection.

Thermal-bonded geotextile is manufactured by melting polypropylene fibers under high temperatures. This type of geotextile is characterized by increased strength and resistance to tearing during use. Filtration occurs only in the transverse direction, so care must be taken when choosing the density. This type of geotextile is most commonly used for landscaping, drainage systems, construction of permanent roads, and other areas subject to high loads.

The primary parameter determining the water permeability and elasticity of geofabric is its surface density (grammage). An incorrectly selected value can reduce the reliability of the structure. However, there is no need to overpay for maximum density when it is not required. Our warehouse stocks geotextile with surface densities ranging from 80 to 300 g/m².

Today, there are many geotextile brands that differ in both quality and cost. The price of geotextile depends on its type, composition, roll width, and density. SANSTORE has been an exclusive importer of geosynthetic materials from European manufacturers for many years, so we offer quality at affordable prices. Our specialists will help you perform all necessary calculations and organize delivery to any city in Ukraine.
